The Area Development Partnership, the Historic Hattiesburg Downtown Association, the City of Hattiesburg, and VisitHATTIESBURG hosted a private reception to welcome the new William Carey University College of Osteopathic Medicine students and faculty on August 8, at the Historic Depot in downtown Hattiesburg. Featured speakers included Betsy Rowell, executive director of Historic Hattiesburg Downtown Association; Web Heidelberg, president of HHDA; John Brown, assistant to the mayor, speaking on behalf of the City of Hattiesburg, and Dr. Tommy King, president of WCU.

The 108- member class includes 67 men and 41 women, the majority of whom are from or have ties to the Gulf-South U.S.
