The following is a press release from the Mississippi Department of Transportation:
The Mississippi Department of Transportation would like to announce the winners from its District Six Equipment Operators Roadeo competition last Thursday in Hattiesburg.
“We want to congratulate all the winners from the District Six Roadeo and offer our best wishes to those who will be going on to compete in the statewide competition in Gulfport,” said Southern District Transportation Commissioner Tom King. “We know that the skill and expertise the MDOT maintenance workers exhibited in the Roadeo competition will carry over into their everyday duties maintaining Mississippi’s highways.”
MDOT maintenance employees had the opportunity to compete in up to six individual events: the Lowboy Truck and Trailer, Single Axle Dump Truck, Backhoe, Tandem Axle Dump Truck, Tractor Bushhog and Motor Patrol.
MDOT’s Roadeo events and the training that leads up to them are an excellent opportunity for heavy machine operators to hone their skills to make sure they are performing their duties as safely as possible, according to Commissioner King.
