Hattiesburg Zoo Announces Spring Hours | Urban Wildlife

The Hattiesburg Zoo is pleased to announce extended hours during the Spring Break holidays. Beginning March 10 through March 17, the Hattiesburg Zoo will open at 10 a.m. and close at 5 p.m., offering guests a greater opportunity to enjoy Hattiesburg’s most unique education and entertainment venue for children and families. The Zoo will keep its regularly scheduled closure on Mondays.

Also during Spring Break, the Hattiesburg Zoo will introduce Behind-the-Scenes Group Tours, providing the public with an opportunity to gain a perspective typically reserved for Zoo Keepers only. “The group tours will be a very unique experience for both adults and children,” said Rick Taylor, Executive Director of the Hattiesburg Tourism and Convention Commissions. “We are excited about extending the opportunity for our guests to take a peak behind the curtain and capture a glimpse of what really goes on behind the scenes at a Zoo. This will be a very educational and entertaining experience.”

Depending upon the tour, guests may have the opportunity to pet a llama, feed an alligators, experience encounters with education animals or participate in a tiger training session. In addition, these tours will explore back-of-house areas such as the quarantine facility, animal barn and the jaguar and tiger holding facilities. Each day, the Zoo staff will offer one of three unique one-hour tours for guests to enjoy. Group tours will be offered daily at 11am and 2pm for groups of 6 to 12 people.

Regular admission for the Zoo is $5 for adults, $3 for children ages 2 through 12, and free for children under 2. In addition to admission, Behind-the-Scenes tour tickets can be purchased at the ticket booth. Behind-the-Scenes tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 2-12 and free for children under 2. Following Spring Break, the Zoo will resume its regular operating hours of Tuesday through Sunday from 10am to 4pm.
