Pearl River Community College raised $3,672 for the American Heart Association on April 25, with a Heart Walk at the college’s new walking track.

Fifteen teams participated in the fund-raising challenge and numerous individuals joined the two-mile walk for an estimated 175 walkers.

“This is our first event on our new walking track,” PRCC President Dr. William Lewis said. “We’ve got big plans out here.”

The University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast will host the 2013 Commencement ceremony May 11, at 10 a.m. in the Mississippi Coast Coliseum in Biloxi. This year’s ceremony will feature guest speaker Karen Sock, president and CEO of Sock Enterprises Inc.

Dr. Christopher Barry, an associate professor and director of clinical admissions with the Department of Psychology at The University of Southern Mississippi, will be interviewed today, April 25 from 3-4 p.m. Central Daylight Time in a teleconference hosted by The Practice Institute (http://thepracticeinstitute.com/) as part of its Interviews with the Authors series.
