William Carey University held Honors Convocation 2013 on April 24 in Smith Auditorium. During convocation, Jim Smith, president of Grand Bank in Petal, was presented The Shoe Leather Award, which is given for extraordinary service to the university.

PRCC raises $3,600 for Heart Association

The following is a news release from Pearl River Community College:

Pearl River Community College raised $3,672 for the American Heart Association on April 25, with a Heart Walk at the college’s new walking track.

Fifteen teams participated in the fund-raising challenge and numerous individuals joined the two-mile walk for an estimated 175 walkers.

“This is our first event on our new walking track,” PRCC President Dr. William Lewis said. “We’ve got big plans out here.”

PRCC offering summer welding course

PRCC offering summer welding course

The following is a news release from Pearl River Community College:

Pearl River Community College will offer a summer welding course on the Poplarville campus.

The course will meet from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, beginning May 20 and ending July 31.

Cost is $475, and completion includes NCCER certification in the core curriculum and Level 1 welding and a 10-hour OSHA card. Instructor is Leland Kennedy.
