The University of Southern Mississippi Foundation and the School of Mass Communication and Journalism will announce a major fundraising campaign to benefit the school on Feb. 8 during a luncheon in the Trent Lott Center on the Hattiesburg campus.
The “Campaign for Mass Comm” will capitalize on the school’s move to a renovated College Hall in the fall of 2013. The campaign is designed to raise money to furnish and equip the facility as well as to create new endowments for scholarships and professorships in the school.
“Our goal is to significantly raise the school’s profile,” said Dr. Chris Campbell, director of the School of Mass Communication and Journalism. “The faculty recently adopted a strategic plan that calls for the program to become one of the best in the country. The move to College Hall is a great first step, but we know that in the long run we need to increase the amount of financial support we can offer to outstanding students and to continue to build an excellent faculty.”
