Southern Miss Groups package food for underprivileged children

The Office of Community Service Learning at The University of Southern Mississippi joined forces with several other campus entities on Nov. 15 for the 2nd Annual Food Packaging event as part of Stop Hunger Now.

Greek Life, the Office of Sustainability, Southern Miss Outdoor Programs and the Office of Multicultural Programs united with OCSL to assemble food packages that will be used to benefit grade schools in developing countries. In many cases, these are the only meals children in those countries will consume throughout the day.

Approximately 85 Southern Miss students helped package more than 11,000 meals for the Stop Hunger Program which envisions a world without hunger. The packets contain a combination of vitamins, soy for protein, dried vegetables, and rice.
