WCU signs agreement with Chilean Schools

The following is a press release from William Carey University:

William Carey University recently signed agreements facilitating an educational and cultural exchange relationship with two Baptist K-12schools in Antofagasta, Chile. The three institutions explored exchange opportunities and ways to develop mutually beneficial academic programs such as the English Language Center at WCU.  Dr. Tommy King, president of WCU, signed a certificate of agreement with pastor and chaplain Rene Yaitul, representing Antofagasta Baptist College, and an agreement with English teacher Christian Godoy, representing Liceo Eben-Ezer School.

Three objectives are noted in the agreements. One is for the schools to cooperate in the further development of the institutions, especially with regard to academic programs. Second is for the schools to broaden the experience of faculty and students of the institutions, providing them with opportunities for increased cultural understanding. Third is for the schools to encourage the expansion of international understanding and cultural ties between citizens of both countries.

The agreement signings were in collaboration with Baptist Student Union’s Global Opportunity Week at WCU October 8-12 in which Yaitul and Godoy provided leadership.
