Camp Shelby announces death of a First Army Division East Soldier | People

Sgt. 1st Class Coater Debose, a Mississippi Army Reserve Soldier died Aug. 19 in Spin Boldak, Afghanistan, of injuries suffered from small arms fire while conducting security force assistance operations. The incident is under investigation.
Sgt. 1st Class Debose was a communications specialist assigned to 2-351st Infantry Regiment, 158th Infantry Brigade, First Army Division East, Camp Shelby, Miss. He deployed in April 2012 to assist and train Afghan uniformed police in and around Kandahar.
Sgt. 1st Class Debose joined the Alabama Army National Guard in May 1983. He transferred to the Army Reserves in 2008. He was also a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom from 2004-2005.
He is survived by his wife, Juanita and son Latravis of Moss Point, his daughter Caronica Jackson, of Hattiesburg, his son Christopher Debose, of Parris Island, S.C., his daughter Nekeshia Raybon, of Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Dayton, Ohio, and his son Broderick Debose, of Petal.
Funeral services and a unit memorial service are currently being coordinated.
