HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM)- An iconic, century-old building at Southern Miss which has undergone a multi-million dollar restoration and renovation was officially re-dedicated Friday. College Hall will serve as the new home of the School of Mass Communication and Journalism and will house classrooms, offices, a radio station and video and audio production facilities.
Southern Miss officials, students and alumni gathered for a ribbon-cutting and most folks stayed for tours of the building.
"For the School of Mass Communication and Journalism, the building represents a major step to reaching our primary goal, to be one of the best mass communication programs and to be the very best program in the country that serves the diverse population that we serve," said Christopher Campbell, Ph.D., director of the school.
"This customized space will allow our students to learn, to study and to practice their craft in such a way that increases their potential for success in the professional mass communication community," said Dr. Rodney Bennett, president of USM.
