New BancorpSouth CEO visits Hub City for first time | News
HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM)- The new head of one of Mississippi's largest financial institutions was in Hattiesburg Friday, visiting the Hub City for the first time as part of a statewide tour. Dan Rollins, Chief Executive Officer of BancorpSouth, Inc., made a stop at the bank's main Hattiesburg branch with former CEO and Chairman of the Board Aubrey Patterson.
Rollins was appointed last November.
The Tupelo-based bank has $13 billion in assets and has 260 branches in nine states.
"The challenge for us is to grow," said Rollins. "We've got to grow and if we can grow our customers, if we can grow our markets, if the customers we're taking care of can grow, then our bank can grow and we need to make sure we're doing that," he said.
"There are going to be fewer institutions, those that survive and those that thrive will be the ones that adapt to the new technologies, but maintain the people focus that we've tried to maintain as a large, regional bank," said Patterson.
Patterson had served as CEO for more than 20 years.
