Senator Billy Hudson discusses charter school bills | News

JACKSON, MS (WDAM)- Senator Billy Hudson says he supports the idea of experimenting with charter schools in failing districts, but says it's not necessary for high performing schools.
As of last week, the House and the Senate have passed their own versions of a charter school bill. Hudson says the Senate bill called for charter schools in C, D, or F districts, and charter schools would not go into A or B districts. But Hudson says he prefers the House bill.
"The House version of the charter school bill said only in D and F districts, and I like their version better. So, that bill will come back to us, we'll get their bill and we will see if we can pass it or whether it's amended or not," said Senator Hudson.
Hudson says this issue will go back and forth for weeks and probably will end up in conference.
