Hattiesburg residents see Midtown Master Plan | News
HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM)- Hattiesburg residents got a chance Thursday night to see what a re-developed midtown district may look like. Consultants presented a summary of the master plan to a packed house at the Train Depot.
Midtown includes neighborhoods north of Forrest General Hospital, south of Hardy Street and west of Highway 49 to S. 31st Ave.
Consultants say midtown should be a mixed-use district of retail, office, residential and dining. The city council will review the plan and hold a public hearing before any decisions are made about zoning changes.
"The next steps will be wooing investors and developers in the market and we think that is highly probable," said Connie Cooper, lead consultant.
Work on the midtown master plan began about a year ago.
