News

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM)- Four candidates for the United States Congress spoke Tuesday at the Hattiesburg AARP Candidates Forum.

Democrat AL Gore Jr, the Constitution's Party Thomas Cramer, and the Reform Parties Shawn O'Hara all are running for the senate against incumbent Roger Wicker. Reform Party candidate Robert Claunch is the only house candidate to speak at the forum. He's running against incumbent Steven Palazzo, Democrat Mathew Moore, and Libertarian Ron Williams. None of the three were at the forum, however Williams did send a representative.

Prior to the beginning of the forum, a couple of the candidates weighed in on Tuesday nights presidential debate.

"I thought both of the candidates did a good job," said Gore. "I'm concerned about some things like spending as much as we do on the military. We have to cut somewhere and we're going to have to tax people who have not been paying their fair share."

"Last night I saw two people basically provide the same policies that we have had for the last four-years, said Cramer. "It was failed then, it's going to fail now."

This is the 24th year for the Hattiesburg AARPCandidates Forum.
