HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM)- The economy of East Hattiesburg got a boost Saturday night from local artists and art lovers who gathered for a special event downtown. They enjoyed the annual Fall Art Walk.
Dozens of pieces of art, from paintings and sculptures to pottery and crafts were on sale. Many specialty shops and restaurants were open to welcome visitors.
The Art Walk was preceeded by the second day of Southern Miss' Roots Reunion Weekend, which featured different types of traditional American music at Town Square Park.
A reunion of a different kind featuring lots of traditional American food was held a few miles up the road in Laurel. Hundreds of folks brought their lawn chairs or their classic cars to a reunion at Phillip's Drive-In, also known as PDI.
It's the second year patrons who grew up eating at the landmark restaurant in the 50s, 60s or 70s have gathered to relive old times and sample some local legendary food. They also enjoyed live music.
PDI opened in 1948.
