HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM)- "There will not be a foreclosure," said Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Pastor Kenneth Fairley.
According to a trustee's notice of sale, the church has a deed of trust with Seaway National Bank and has defaulted on that trust.
The notice goes on to say, the trustee, J. Mark Franklin III, has put out a notice to execute the trust and sell the Mt. Carmel Church and the land, in order to raise the money the church owes.
The notice concludes by stating the trustee will proceed to sell the church to the highest bidder for cash on November 7 between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. at the Northeast Main door of the Paul. B. Johnson Chancery Building in Hattiesburg.
Fairley says his only statement would be, "There will be no foreclosure. Prayer still works. God is working this out."
