News

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM)- A woman was transported to a local hospital after smashing at high-speed into the rear of an 18-wheeler on I-59 Wednesday.

Traffic is expected to be diverted for at leas two hours.

Traffic in the northbound lane slowed to a crawl following an accident near exit 65 in the southbound lane around 11 a.m., and the driver of an 18-wheeler said a vehicle in that lane smashed into his trailer without slowing down.

The accident occurred in the northbound lane about one mile south of the accident that occurred in the southbound lane.

The woman's vehicle was destroyed, but the 18-wheeler suffered only a dent.

Shortly before 10 a.m. Wednesday a multi-vehicle accident occurred on I-59 southbound. Three to four people were transported to a local hospital. Witnesses on the scene said the accident occurred because traffic was stopped ahead of the incident.
