WCU, PCS team up to help child who needs transplant

6-month-old Alexander Bradberry is at Batson Children's Hospital in Jackson awaiting a heart transplant.

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM)- The William Carey University and Presbyterian Christian School communities are teaming up to help a Hattiesburg child who's fighting for his life in a Jackson hospital.

Teachers, staff and students gathered Tuesday evening to donate blood at Hardy St. Baptist Church to help 6-month-old Alexander Bradberry.

He has a rare, congenital heart defect and he's awaiting a heart transplant at Batson Children's Hospital.

His family says he needs blood every day.

"Our plan is as long as Alex is stable and healthy, which is all that we can ask for right now, we'll do as many blood drives as we can to make sure that he has enough blood to last him," said Andrew Bradberry, Alexander's father.
