Local church gives back to the community during difficult times
News

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM)- Aside from The Salvation Army and the American Red Cross, for a local church, helping the community couldn't have come at a better time.

Putting their faith in action, Moselle Memorial Baptist Church volunteered and served the community Sunday by taking home-cooked meals to confined shut-ins, giving out water, picking up trash on the side roads, and even doing small repairs for needy families.

After Hurricane Isaac, the various acts of kindness are just simple ways of showing how much the people care about helping out the community.

"It's not all about what goes on here in these facilities, it really is about what happens when we leave here and go out into the world," says Senior Pastor Keith Thompson. "That's where people really should see what the church is."

Moselle Memorial Baptist Church has emptied the pews and taken the first Sunday of September for the past five years to help out the community.
