HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM)- Hattiesburg Police are warning businesses about counterfeit money being passed throughout the city.
For about the past week counterfeit five, $10, and $20 bills have been passed in several area businesses. Larger department stores like Walmart have been most often targeted, but pharmacies, restaurants, and gas stations have also received some of the bills.
Authorities say they are looking for two possible suspects who were captured on surveillance video.
Business owners are urged to advise employees to be vigilant to help avoid taking in the counterfeit money.
Anyone with information on who is passing the counterfeit bills is asked to contact the Hattiesburg Police Department or Metro Crime Stoppers at 601-582-STOP.
