Residents support children in need | News
HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM)- Pine Belt resident enjoyed a night of fun as they helped support the efforts to provide loving homes for children in need.
Homes of Hope for Children hosted its 6th Annual Silent and Live Auction Saturday. The auction included live entertainment, various gift certificates, paintings, sports memorabilia and even puppies. The privately funded Christian ministry serves children that are in crisis and haven't done a thing wrong but be born into a difficult set of circumstances.
Auction committee member Sharon Rice believes there's a real need and a purpose for Homes of Hope. Rice says all the funds from the event go to help actual children that live on the Christian ministry campus.
"I know what kind of difference this kind of ministry can make in a life of a child. For me it was a no brainer as to what I would commit my life to do and that's making sure that other children get the same opportunity that I had," says Homes of Hope Executive Director Michael Garrett.
Last year's event, Homes of Hope raised over sixty-four thousand dollars.
Homes of Hope for Children currently serve fourteen boys and girls. Their biggest need right now is monthly donors. If you would like more information visit their Hattiesburg page at www.hohfc.org
