HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM)- Former Hattiesburg Police captain Jamie Hooker, who fell from grace amid charges that he stole from the department in 2010, pleaded guilty in Forrest County Circuit Court Thursday on one count of embezzlement.
Hooker was the head of the HPDs Crime Suppression, or Strike, Team when he was arrested on charges of grand larceny following an internal investigation into items missing from the department's evidence room.
Hooker is accused of taking a television that had been seized and selling it or giving it away.
He's being prosecuted through the Attorney General Jim Hood's office and his sentencing hearing is scheduled for August 20.
