Temple Baptist Church voted, May 13, to call Dr. Darryl Craft as its new Senior Pastor. Dr. Craft was unanimously recommended to the congregation by the Pastor Search Team of Tommy Clark, Steve Britt, Diane Hardin, Ronnie Kent, Jay Staats, Howard Yawn, and Aaron Zumwalt. The secret ballot vote to call Dr. Craft was an overwhelming 96.2%.
Dr. Craft is currently the Senior Pastor of Green Street Baptist Church in High Point, NC. His previous pastorates include the Brainerd Baptist Church in Chattanooga, TN; Shelbyville Mills Baptist Church in Shelbyville, TN; Capshaw Baptist Church in Capshaw, AL; and Bushnell Baptist Church in Durant, OK.
Dr. Craft and his wife, Vicki, have three children and one grandchild. Dr. Craft has a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Alabama in Huntsville. He also has a Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas.
He is currently serving as Adjunct Professor of Pastoral Theology and Evangelism at Tennessee Temple Seminary in Chattanooga and serves as a trustee of Laurel University of High Point, NC.
Dr. and Mrs. Craft and their youngest son, Josh, will be moving to Hattiesburg in mid July to begin his duties at Temple Baptist Church. In accepting the position on Sunday afternoon, Dr. Craft stated, “After being informed of today's vote, we humbly accept your invitation to serve as Senior Pastor of Temple Baptist Church. We are looking forward to all God has in store for us and for the Temple family.”
