AAA Ambulance Presents Life-Saving Technology to USM Health Services | Events

The following is a press release from Forrest General Hospital:
There are more than 300,000 deaths each year in the United States from cardiac arrest, with most of those occurring outside the hospital. According to the AHA, a victim’s chance at survival is reduced by 10 percent with each minute that passes before the heart receives a defibrillation shock.
Automatic External Defibrillators are effective, easy to use and relatively inexpensive, and can restore a healthy heart rhythm while waiting for emergency medical personnel to arrive.
These devices, when installed in public areas such as businesses or workplaces, can improve a victim’s chances of survival following a cardiac crisis. On September 1 at 9 a.m., AAA Ambulance will present two AEDs to the USM Health Services Clinic, giving additional peace of mind for staff and students that help is available when it is needed most.
