The following is a press release from William Carey University:
William Carey University’s athletic department recognized a group of military soldiers following the playing of the national anthem at WCU’s 7 p.m. men’s soccer game against Spring Hill College on October 3. WCU’s new marching band, the Spirit of Carey, performed the national anthem and played a medley of patriotic songs to honor the soldiers during their recognition.
Crusader fans - decked out in Carey colors for the “C-Red” game - enjoyed a double victory. The WCU Lady Crusaders beat the Spring Hill College Badgers 5-2 at the 5 p.m. match, and the WCU men’s soccer team beat Spring Hill 5-2 later that evening.
