More families can qualify for IDS Neighborhood Stabilization Program Houses | Community Spirit

Recent changes in income eligibility requirements for the Institute for Disability Studies Neighborhood Stabilization Program now allow for more families to purchase homes in the city of Jackson.

For instance, a family of four qualifying for the program can now earn up to $70,550 total household income. These once foreclosed houses are being completely rehabbed and sold through the program by the University of Southern Mississippi’s Institute for Disability Studies.

“By increasing the household eligibility income requirements to 120 percent of the average median income, families with higher incomes can now qualify to purchase these select, renovated houses,” said Cassie Hicks, coordinator of housing for the Institute. “Additionally, some IDS NSP houses will be listed with local realtors, making it easier for qualified homebuyers to view and consider these houses as homes for their families.”
